Lanark has benefited from a share of a £2.5m fund aimed at revitalising town centres across South Lanarkshire. Part of the works included the demolition of a building at Hunters Close aimed at improving space for parking and enhancing the ability to hold events through improved access.

John McGeady were awarded the Civil Engineering works at Hunters Close which included the installation of new drainage, street lighting,the installation of natural stone setts to create car parking spaces which were accessed via the newly constructed access road.

John McGeady carried out a survey on the site and the existing retaining wall prior to commencement of the works which revealed that the wall which was built around one hundred years ago was now assessed as being in a state of disrepair and was no longer fulfilling the purposed it was built for. A survey was then instructed by a Structural Engineer which confirmed that an alternative design solution was required.

South Lanarkshire Council approved the John McGeady designs with a new retaining wall clad in sandstone being created to replace the existing wall.

The works at Hunters Close are due to complete at the end of September and John McGeady looks forward to helping create an improved town centre through these revitalization works.
